Samsung Display Reportedly Expected to Make 700,000 Galaxy S27 Pro Privacy Panels in November

UBI Research expects about 700,000 Privacy Display OLED panels for the Galaxy S27 Pro in November 2026, though Samsung has not confirmed the phone.

This report is based on the Korea Herald's reporting of a UBI Research estimate. Samsung has not confirmed it.

Key takeaways

  • UBI Research estimates about 700,000 Galaxy S27 Pro panels with built-in Privacy Display in November, according to the Korea Herald.
  • Reports say only the Pro and Ultra get the feature. The standard and Plus models reportedly do not.
  • Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy S27 Pro, its specifications, its production schedule or its price.

What was reported

The Korea Herald reports that Samsung Display is preparing to produce about 700,000 OLED panels with built-in privacy technology for the Galaxy S27 Pro. The figure comes from display industry researcher UBI Research.

Some headlines say production has begun. The Korea Herald says Samsung Display is preparing to begin. Reports expect the Galaxy S27 series to launch in early 2027.

Which Galaxy S27 models get Privacy Display

Privacy Display debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Android Central explains that it switches off subpixels at wider angles, so no separate film is needed. The Korea Herald adds that users can apply it to selected apps or notifications.

Reports now point to a split lineup. This table combines panel sizes from GSMArena with materials, Privacy Display status and price projections from the Korea Herald.

ModelDisplay sizeOLED materialPrivacy DisplayTipster US price
Galaxy S276.27 inchesM14No$999
Galaxy S27+6.66 inchesM14No$1,199
Galaxy S27 Pro6.47 inchesM16Yes$1,399
Galaxy S27 Ultra6.89 inchesM16Yes$1,499

Every cell is a report or a projection. Samsung has confirmed none of it. The prices trace to a tipster named Schroedinger, relayed by PhoneArena and then the Korea Herald.

If the table holds, the Pro would be the cheapest route to Privacy Display and sit just $100 below the Ultra. Android Central's earlier reporting says the Pro would lack the Ultra's integrated S Pen. Buyers would trade 0.42 inches of screen and the stylus for a smaller phone with the privacy panel.

What 700,000 panels says about volume

A Korean report relayed by GSMArena in early October gives Samsung Display a Pro target of 2 million to 3 million panels in 2026. It adds 4 million to 5 million in 2027.

By SamsVerge's arithmetic, 700,000 panels equal about 23 percent to 35 percent of the 2026 range. The sources do not say how the remainder would be spread across other months.

Compare the figures with care. UBI Research gives a production estimate for November, while the Korean report describes shipment targets. The two may not measure the same thing.

GSMArena also relayed a family-wide target of 47 million to 48 million panels for the S27 series. That is about 10 percent more than the Galaxy S26 family.

Why a Pro with Privacy Display fits Samsung's pricing pressure

The Korea Herald reports a combined third-quarter operating loss of 600 billion won ($447 million) in Samsung's Mobile eXperience and Networks divisions. It cites rising component costs.

The paper says Samsung named a better flagship mix as a 2027 priority in its latest earnings announcement. In the paper's reading, a Pro could nudge buyers of the standard and Plus models to spend more.

It also reports that Samsung raised Galaxy S26 prices over higher memory costs and that more increases are expected for the S27 line. That makes the tipster prices above a floor to treat cautiously.

How credible is the report

Source. The 700,000 figure appears only in the Korea Herald's account of the UBI Research report. SammyFans repeats the Korea Herald, so it is not independent confirmation.

Corroboration. Separate reporting points the same way. GSMArena relayed a Korean report in early October that Samsung Display was preparing mass production for the S27 family. The Tech Outlook, citing ZDNet Korea, said some parts began mass production the month before.

Consistency. The Privacy Display scope has moved. Tipster Digital Chat Station said on Weibo on June 22, 2026 that Samsung was testing it for the Pro. Notebookcheck notes a report a few weeks later suggesting all four models would get it. Later reports narrowed it to the Pro and Ultra.

Samsung has published nothing official on the Galaxy S27 Pro, so there is no Tier 1 source to link.

What this means for you

Galaxy S26 Ultra owners are unaffected, since nothing in the reports touches that phone. Software changes for the S26 line are tracked in our One UI 9.5 testing coverage.

Anyone wanting Privacy Display in a smaller phone should wait for Samsung's own announcement. Reports expect it in early 2027, and prices are still tipster-level.

Buyers eyeing the standard or Plus should not expect the feature. Reports say those models use older M14 material without it.

Three things would settle the story: Samsung confirming the Pro, an update from UBI Research or Samsung Display on volumes, or a leak of retail pricing. Rumors on the Ultra's hardware sit in our Galaxy S27 Ultra chip leak report and our Qualcomm and Samsung 2nm report.
